Who he is

John Dawson is a Canadian guitarist and composer based in The Greater Toronto Area. He has worked in areas of the music industry ranging from education to performance. Over the years John has played with Juno and Grammy nominated artists and had the pleasure of backing up Jackie Lomax at a 2011 Beatles Festival. John is an accomplished musician who is endorsed by Yamaha Canada. Beyond music, John has no small appreciation for the many Canadians that have shown prowess in their respective fields. Most notably Keanu Reeves in the John Wick franchise. He has been selected for commissions and publishing projects on a national scale for the past 20 years. He is a graduate of the Humber College Music program and holds degrees in Music and Education from York University.  His influences as a writer and player include, among others, George Harrison, Paul Simon, Bill Frisell, Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler. When not working on his music John enjoys spending time with his wife and children playing video games, watching pro wrestling and cooking, but desperately avoiding home maintenance (for which he is woefully under qualified). In 2024 he released the critically acclaimed album Outlier and is actively working on new projects. You can find John on social media platforms @johndawsonmusic.
